Tonfa



Basic Techniques: Short grip, long grip, poke, bunt, inside/ outside/ upward/ downward strike, inside/ outside/ upper/ lower block, long & short, high & low x-block, inside & outside swing

Advanced Techniques: inverted grip, inside/ outside/ high/ low parry, elbows (inside, outside, upward, downward), inside trap, L-trap, T-trap, V-trap, figure-8

Tonfa Form 1 (brown or higher)
Segment 1: Begin in short grip. High x-block to double lower blocks, [L] inside block, [R] inside block, [L] pivot to bow stance & [L] outside swing, bring feet together then [R] to [L] bunt, [R] step to forward stance & [R] outside strike (switching to long grip), [L] outside strike (switching to long grip), double front poke to low x-block.

Segment 2: Shift to [R] cat stance & [R] outside parry w/ [L] high guard, [R] front kick then [L] pivot to horse stance, switch to short grip & double upper blocls to inside trap, double side bunt, [L] pivot to bow stance & [R] inside swing, raise [R] knee & [R] T-trap ([L] switch to long grip), step down into [R] forward stance & [L] outside strike, [R] bunt, double inside swing to double bunt.

Segment 3: [R] step to [L] back twist stance @R45 & [R] lower block (long grip) with [L] high guard, [L] step back into side stance (keeping angle) & [L] side poke, [R] crossover side kick & [R] side poke, step down to horse stance (keeping angle) & [L] side poke, [L] step to horse stance facing front & [L] switch to short grip, [R] outside swing then [L] inside swing to [R] hip, [L] 180° pivot to horse stance & [L] outside swing then [R] inside swing to [L] hip, [R] 180° pivot to horse stance & [R] outside swing then [L] inside swing to [R] hip, [L] figure-8 then double switch to inverted grip, double inside strike to low V-trap, bring up then switch back to short grip, double low parry blocks. Return to starting position.
