Bo (Long Staff)


Basic Techniques: Position 1 & 2, 8-point bo blocking system, 4-point bo striking system, basic drills

Advanced Techniques: 6-point bo striking system, 12-point bo blocking system, advanced drills

Bo Form 1 (begin at green belt)

Segment 1: Begin in position 2. Bring to horizontal grip (while stepping out to horse stance), downward block to [R] side block to [L] side block, [L] pivot to bow stance & forward strike, bring feet together, back poke to front poke, [R] step to forward stance then [L] upward strike to [R] outside strike to [L] outside strike to [L] downward strike. 

Segment 2: Draw back into [R] cat stance & uppercut, [R] lead leg front kick then [L] pivot to face rear & step down into horse stance, upward block to [R] side poke to [L] side poke, [L] pivot to bow stance & [L] outside strike, raise [R] knee & [R] upward strike, step down into [R] forward stance & forward strike. 

Segment 3: 4-point strikes, [R] step back into [L] twist stance & uppercut to right corner, [L] step back into side stance (keeping angle) & [L] side poke to back left corner, [R] crossover sidekick & [R] side poke to right corner, step down into horse stance (keeping angle) & [L] side poke to back left corner, [L] step to horse stance facing front then outside strikes to right-left-right, [L] 180° pivot to horse stance & outside strikes to left-right-left, [R] 180° pivot to horse stance & outside strikes to right-left, downward block (with pause), return to position 2.
